Chen Tai Chi has a long and distinguished history reaching back many hundreds of years has enjoys the reputation of being one of the better Chinese Martial Arts, however one does not have to be a martial artist to take up Tai Chi. Learning Tai Chi is a process that starts with body preparation forms, energy cultivation and progresses to skill development and form training.
The core of Chen style can be found in the preparation forms and here is where we heal and develop our bodies, this is followed with energy boosting forms, Qi Gong or Chi Gung
The next phase is mastering the basics and for this Silk Reeling Qi Gong is practiced as these drills form the essence of all other movements found in Chen Tai Chi forms and form the foundation for other skills such as push hands and the martial applications.
Chen Tai Chi has much to offer any person no matter what their level of interest, the preparation forms( see video ) can be learned in a short space of time and are of particular benefit to all that practice them as these forms align the skeleton, soften the body, enhance mobility and improve metabolic functions while boosting vitality and improving our mood and making us very much stronger and more able to cope with life.
We start beginners on very simple short forms and for those with enough time and suffient interest we move along to the classic long form, push hands and martial applications
